Hello, Good Life Divas! I am Tortina Bunton, president and CEO of Priorities First Bookkeeping Firm located in Maricopa, Arizona. I am currently in pursuit of living my dreams. I have a 30 hour a week job, a husband I have been married to for 17 years, two children who keep me on my toes and a small bookkeeping business that I started about two years ago. I’m balancing my career and my family all while building my business through maintaining current clients and working on obtaining more. It hasn’t always been easy to see the path before me, nor was it easy to face my fears, but through it all I’ve persevered to this place called contentment.
I have served in various positions – subcontract coordinator, EEO officer, and as an assistant controller for one of Phoenix, Arizona’s top construction companies. I have over 20 years of accounting experience in the field of construction and my diversified experience has allowed me to process and manage over $15M a month. Additionally, I am a member of the Arizona Small Business Association, the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce, Maricopa Women in Business and I have been a faithful member of my church for over ten years.
My passion for helping others in the area of finance and my extensive accounting background led me to marry the two when I conceived Priorities First. We opened our doors in 2006 by providing accounting and bookkeeping services for entrepreneurs of small to medium sized businesses. My educational background in accounting and the years of hands on experience I gained while working closely with government officials and CPAs enabled me to become extremely familiar with the overall functions and needs of a small business. At Priorities First we are dedicated to developing long term relationships with entrepreneurs who are committed to the success of their business. We offer QuickBooks setup, training and a wide range of accounting/bookkeeping services. We also provide day to day accounting functions from payroll to preparing your financial statements or we provide month end or project based bookkeeping. Work is performed on site, offsite or through secure remote access, whichever fits our client’s needs.
One of Priorities First goals is to give our clients the benefit of services that will help relieve stress while saving them time and money. I believe that the success of any company begins with proper planning and simple strategic initiatives. Whether you are a company with employees or you are just starting out, our priority is to help keep track of your finances so that you can concentrate on your bottom line. We also assist those who need help organizing their recordkeeping, whether it is for self satisfaction or for tax purposes.
Living My Dreams
According to Webster’s Dictionary, the word dream means 1) A series of thoughts, pictures, or feelings occurring during sleep. 2) A dreamlike creation of the imagination; day dream. 3) Something notable for its pleasing quality and 4) A goal that is longed for.
As a child, did you have pictures in your mind of what or who you wanted to be when you grew up? Do you, at times, get lost in your imagination, thinking about the what if’s? Do you long to accomplish a goal that you have, but never really put to action? Are you living your dreams? If not, have you thought about what it’s going to take in order for you to live your dreams? Think and ponder on these questions, and try answering each one honestly.
Let us continue to pursue and live our dreams to the fullest. It’s not going to be easy for any of us. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. There will be challenges along the way, but we must not give up. Although it’s ok to give in to a time of re-grouping, Never Give Up!
