Greetings to all the Diva’s looking for a new career! My name is Brenda M. Cunningham, more affectionately known as Mariah – Career Diva! I am currently employed full time as a Project Manager for a well known semiconductor company in addition to being a wife and mother of two small children, Miles – 4 and Nacol – 3. I am also living my dream of helping others to activate their true career potential through preparation and effective marketing. Journey with me as I tell you a little about who I am, how I balance it all, and encourage you to do the same.
Have you ever been tired of your job and wanted a change? Have you ever thought to yourself, I deserve better than this? And then the dreaded task of updating your resume and cover letter kept you from acting on the changes you knew you needed to make! Well like seemingly everyone in my family, this is the case for a large percentage of our population. For years, I was donned the “Resume Writer” of the family and I was tasked with updating or even creating from scratch all the resumes for everyone which included an Accountant, a Chef, a few Bankers, a Retail Store Manager, an Engineer, and multiple Customer Service Representatives.
Very often I find that my clients absolutely possess the necessary skills and credentials to conduct a successful job search, but are not expert at communicating their mastery.
Fast forward to 2006, God gave me the vision to start my own business. Was I nervous? Absolutely! I was already a full time working mother of two with a husband (so I guess that makes three kids). Plus I had never run my OWN business before, how would I even begin? Well I did, I began, I took the leap of faith and launched ROYAL Resume Services and have been in operation since August of 2007. ROYAL is an acronym for Resumes On Your behalf At Last! My vision is seeing women empowered to make informed career choices that will stretch their abilities and challenge them intellectually. My belief is that career preparation is critical in today’s uncertain job climate. Did you know that “The unemployment rate rose from 5.7 to 6.1 percent in August,” according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Current Population Survey? Well it is, and this is a sign of the times, we all need to be prepared.
I am a Certified Professional Resume Writer with 7 years of writing experience for several diverse career fields. I have active memberships in the Professional Association of Resume Writers (PARW) and the Resume Writers Council of Arizona (RWCA) where I keep abreast of the latest hiring trends and resume preferences from HR professionals and highly successful recruiters.
